About
We want to make sure you are comfortable, content and relaxed while you stay here so we’ve compiled some helpful tips and more information about Radio Skye and our Pods.
Our Pods
The pods were born in September 2023 when they arrived on site. It has been a long-time dream to be financially sustainable and finally the pod accommodation is allowing us to do just that. The income from the pods helps to support three local jobs, two full time and one part-time, along with going towards our mast space rent and other core costs, Your stay here means a huge amount to us, especially Suzy, Adam and Robert, as we can continue to do the jobs we love.
So now you know a bit more about us, here are a few things to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Parking at Radio Skye
You are welcome to park next to your pod or across from it. Please keep the space near the station clear for presenters. Our outside broadcast van is parked to the right of the building, please do not park here as we require easy access.
The entrance and exit ramp is suitable for larger vehicles but do be careful exiting, keep in the centre of the ramp and mind the edge, and look out for the Radio Skye sign on the left-hand side.
As a working station, there will be presenters arriving in vehicles from 7am onwards until 10pm but we will try and keep noise to a minimum. The station may be accessed before or after these times on occasions. Don’t be alarmed if someone is in the station late, we are probably preparing news for the following day. The station is alarmed and secured at night.
The Radio Station
You are welcome to pop in and say hello during the hours of 9.30am and 3pm Monday to Friday. Suzy the Station Manager will happily have a wee blether with you and give you a tour of the station if the studio is not in use. Please do be aware that the station is usually very busy however we will always do our very best to accommodate. Access to the broadcasting studio is not allowed unless guided by the staff.
Pod Extras
We have an iron and ironing board available; please ask in the office at the station. We also have a small first aid kit and midge repellent (often required in the summer). Office hours are 9.30am - 3.00pm
There is a designated barbecue area with bbq, grill and seating etc on the patio which you should feel free to use. Please make sure it is wiped down once it has cooled and remove any rubbish, our bins are located at the studio side of the shed.
You are welcome to use the patio but it is located next to studio 2 so please keep noise down until after 5pm.
